Episode 1

In this opening episode George meets a father and son building an ambitious cliff top retreat complete with a retractable roof but with no plans whatsoever. Also is a young architect embarks on his first commission, a unique garden pavilion for the most demanding of clients – his gran! George teams up once again with master craftsman Will Hardie as the two of them try and take an icon of the British seaside, the humble beach hut, and transform it into the most unlikely of holiday getaways.

In this episode George meets a father of three trying to build a homemade campervan for less than the cost of a family caravan holiday – with 3000 cds, a floor made from old vinyl records and the most ingenius toilet ever featured on the show, it’s a small build with huge ambitions. Also in this show is a single Dad creating a home for him and his kids on the water – by renovating an oil rig escape pod. If the build wasn’t challenging enough, a test run nearly scuppers the whole project. On his German road trip, George travel to the Tyrolean mountains where he sees a house that looks like a cross between a large bird and UFO and is packed with some very clever design tricks that make the most of the stunning mountain location. And as their floating beach hut idea begins to take shape, George and master craftsman Will Hardie travel to Southend where a knackered, former WW2 lookout shed is ready to be the backbone for their unique build – if it survives the trip back to the workshop.

In this episode, George meets a young man who bought a knackered 70 year old boat but with no building experience he needs someone to help with the restoration. So to find a shipmate, he turns to an internet dating site.

In this episode George meets a man who wants to bring back one of Britain’s most eccentric beach front creations. He’s planning to build Margate’s first Victorian Bathing Machine in over 100 years using £30,000 entrusted to him by the local community.

In tonight’s final episode, after months of planning and building, George and Will’s floating beach hut is finally revealed. We see it first in its new setting nestled on the beach amongst all the other beach huts, before it’s time for its maiden voyage – as it’s launched onto the open seas.

In this special episode of Amazing Spaces, George teams up with up-cycling expert Max McMurdo who dreams of living mortgage free by selling his house and using the £50,000 profit to build a custom designed floating home in a 40ft shipping container. Max then plans to moor his new house in a local marina and start his idyllic new life on the water.

In this Episode, George meets a couple who, with a second baby on the way, have outgrown their narrow boat. Their solution is to buy a much wider Dutch Barge which gives them more space but less head height - which leads to a radical solution.
